The Burano Lace Museum, inaugurated in 1981 and housed in the historic Lace School founded in 1872 by Countess Andriana Marcello, traces the origins, evolution, and promotion of one of Venice’s most refined artisanal traditions. After the school closed, a meticulous cultural restoration effort led to the creation of the museum, which today preserves and displays over one hundred precious artifacts, bearing witness to lace production in the Venetian Lagoon from the 16th to the 20th century. As part of the Venice Civic Museums system, the exhibition experience is enriched by the presence of lace makers, who still demonstrate their techniques live today, and by an extensive historical archive filled with drawings, photographs, and documents.

The Torcello Museum, on the other hand, offers a fascinating journey to the origins of Venetian civilization through a unique collection of archaeological artifacts and medieval works of art. Occupying a strategic position since Roman times, the island served as a key landing point and hub for trade between the sea and the hinterland, connected to major transportation routes such as the Via Annia and the Via Claudia Augusta. In the centuries that followed, especially during the barbarian invasions, Torcello became one of the main settlements in the lagoon, welcoming fleeing populations and developing until it reached its peak of splendor around the 10th century, establishing itself as the first true lagoon city.
